If you have tried using the ppa, how stable/unstable have you found it to be?

Ok, so if you have one installation that is working, disable the PPA until you feel brave again.

Well so far only one minor glitch - Suspend on the Cairo tool bar stops working after an as of yet undetermined amount of time but still works from the User menu

The the developers have every intention of making each official release as stable as can be. So, the developers of Ubuntu gnome 13.04 left some things out because they did not have time to test the stability before release date.

The purpose of the PPA is to allow users to bring in some of the missing things. They admit that there is a risk. They are not deliberately putting into the PPA code that they know will break the system. They advise that we become familiar with the means to purge the system of the PPA code. We could always re-install if things get that bad.

You might want to try Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 and share in testing it between now and release day. I am running Ubuntu 13.10. I always run the development branch I have found it stable. But things do break. Recently there has been a lot of kernel changes. I have had great difficulty bootinto into 13.10. I have just got kernel 3.10.0 and I am hoping that the problems have been fixed. At least I was able to boot into just now. So, I would say that even the version under development is stable enough to do work with it.

Ubuntu is robust. When things crash the development OS carries on working.

Regards.

My system has been fairly stable for the past several days. No more Mission-Control crashes, or Nautilus and Cairo-Dock crashes. Feels rather snappy as well. Good work Gnome-Team
