CPU: AMD FX-8350
Board: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3

I want to install Ubuntu 13.04 on a new rig and it WILL NOT let me.

Installation begins normally from DVD and get purple ubuntu logo for about 60 seconds and then screen turns black w/white text & stops completely at:

BusyBox v1.20.2 (Ubuntu 1:1.20.0-8ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.

(initramfs) unable to find a medium containing a live file system.

. . . and stays there.

Ubuntu 13.04 DVD is good; it worked perfectly on another computer.
New rig is good; it installed XP w/no problems.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Rita G. Hi !

"What am I doing wrong" probably nothing, the question is what am I not doing ? Those of us accustomed to older ways do not take into consideration the impediments put in place now-a-days ! Got to contend with UEFI, ISRT, and secure boot.

With the newer systems as a first stab take a look in bios for "secure boot" and disable it;
UEFI version 12.10 and up can cope with it ..once you know it is a factor;
ISRT:
