I just installed Xubuntu 13.04 from a USB key on an Acer Aspire One. When I was running it in live CD mode I got the WiFi working by enabling the proprietary driver. (Broadcom wl)

Now, when I try to do the same, it hangs when I apply the change in the additional driver dialog. I think it may be because it can't find the files on the USB? Do I need to add the USB to the repos somehow? It is not possible for me to use a wired connection. I do have a working older installation on another partition though with the wl driver loaded.

The additional drivers are not present on the USB, since it is a proprietary driver. This article explains, why it worked on the live but not on the installed system:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx

The article has also instructions on how to possibly obtain the drivers from the install media.
