I am looking for a replacement to the application menu in Xfce. I essentially want something like the Windows 7 start menu, Kickoff or mintmenu. The addition of the search functionality is really what I'm focusing on. Does anything like that exist that integrates well with Xfce?

Nothing of the sort that I know of. You could try scavenging through the package manager and look for some modules you could put together. In all honesty, such a Windowsesque start menu could compromise the performance of your machine. If you really want eye-candy, then by all means try out Cinnamon/MATE. Linux Mint takes advantage of both DEs quite well, at the expense of performance.

You could add Synapse. It's not windows-like but it adds a search function. It's in the software center.

You can use the Mint Menu by adding the Linux Mint repo. Here's a tutorial I used to install it: http://xubuntugeek.blogspot.com/2012/07/how-to-install-mint-menu-in-xubuntu.html

If you are using Xubuntu 12.04 you'll need to upgrade to the Xfce 4.10 PPA. Here's a tutorial for that: http://www.webupd8.org/2012/05/install-xfce-410-in-xubuntu-1204.html

I have - it's great! It has a search option at the top, plus the Windoz like program categories too. :)

To install your whiskers menu:

Follow this guide: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=747854#p747854

Good luck.

PS The only thing I can't work out is how to edit it - see this post if anyone knows: How to edit/add to the Whisker menu? (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2176832)
