Sound servers in Ubuntu

Being that ESD hasn't been updated in six years, are there any plans to introduce more modern sound servers into Ubuntu like JACK or PulseAudio?

No idea, chances are all of the current ones will be kept for compatibility with apps. I guess it would have to be up to the application developers to redesign their stuff. I hear ya though I think the sound system in Linux and Ubuntu is too outdated and should have been overhauled years ago.
