View Full Version : Can my system run ubuntu?

Hey guys so basically i'm woundering if my system can run Ubuntu,specs are below:

AMD DUAL CORE 1.8GHZ
4GB RAM
512MB AMD Radeon HD 6380G
HDD: 375GB
OS: Windows 7 home premium 64bit

*On the website for my drivers are set to windows 7 64bit not sure why,so i wanted to double check if i could run it or not*

Absolutely! In fact, it should fly with that specification.

Driver management works a little different in Ubuntu/Linux.

Both proprietary drivers from Nvidia and AMD are packaged specially so they can be installed within Ubuntu itself. As a rule of thumb, installing a driver from the manufacturer's website would be left as a last resort.

During the installation you'll probably used the open source driver (don't worry about it), and then when you boot into your new install, look into the application 'Additional Drivers' to install the proprietary AMD drivers.

That's just a Microsoft scare tactic.
