ubuntu fails to install

I am trying to install version 13.04 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro M50 and get the error "SMBIOS implementation version > 2.7 not fully supported by this version of dmidecode" when entering user name data. If i proceed it finally gives up and goes to live-cd. Do I need to update the bios on this machine or is there some other problem.

then with only 256MB RAM you will have a tough time installing Ubuntu, if at all it gets installed. Try Lubuntu, Lubuntu-alterante or Lubuntu-Minimal (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/MinimalInstall).
