I am interested in starting a forum dedicated to GIS open source software.

I live in Lake Worth, Florida, am a license Survey/Mapper interesed in GIS.

:) You can count me in, I'm interested. I don't have any formal qualifications but I still manage to do okay regardless with GPS and GIS mapping work and geotagged photos.
I live in Australia and I work for a local government 'shire council', which would be something like what you guys call a 'county' in the USA and Canada.
I think a new web forum for open source GIS software would be great because it will help spread the word about how good free and open source GIS software is and get more people using it.
