Upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04 and lost launchpad

Last evening, I finally took the chance and upgraded from version 12.10 to 13.04. Everything seemed to go smooth until after rebooting. After rebooting, I have no launchpad or taskbar to launch applications or even turn the computer off from. Can anyone help?

Interesting update. I used ctnl-alt-delete to logout of my user account and login back in as a Guest Session. Surprisingly, the launcher and menu bar where all there. So, for some reason these items didn't make the upgrade to 13.04 in my user account. I guess I'll try to delete my old user account and make a new one. Hate that I will lose all my customized settings in my old user account.
