I have looked around for a comparison between the various AMD dual core X2 chips (CNET has it here: http://cnet.search.com/click?xsl,cnet.2.313.1459. AMD%2Bvs%2E%2BPentium%2Bdual%2Bcore.0,http://dw.com.com/redir?ptid=6070&onid=5&dId=3&oid=6070-5_1-0&siteid=1&ontId=5&tag=ksrch_tf_1&subj=AMD%2Bvs%2E%2BPentium%2Bdual%2Bcore&destcat=10442_1-6389077&desturl=http%253A%252F%252Freviews%252Ecnet%252Eco m%252F4520%252D10442_7%252D6389077%252D1%252Ehtml
I am planning to buy one desktop with AMD chip; but not sure if there will be any performance differences between 4200+ and the 4400+ (or even the 4600+). I will not need it for graphics intensive work, nor any video DV editing. However, would prefer if could manage statistical intense simulations and number crunching with ease. Multitasking is also a prerequisite. Does anyone here have experience with these machines and will 4400+ (or higher) be worth the penny? It comes with the following specs:
HP minitower AMD Athlon 64 X2 - 4200+ (Dual Core 2.2Ghz + 2 x 512KB L2 cache) 160GB SATA 1GB (2 x 512MB) DVD Rom PLUS DVD+-RW with Lightscribe XP Pro

And oh Yah, how about with Ubuntu, any problems? I think it comes with ATI radeon graphic card.
