Hi,

I just got a new fujitsu lifebook with a pre-installed win7. I tried to install Ubuntu 12.04 desktop amd64 with a live usb stick and after install I don't get a GRUB menu to select to start Ubuntu.
Am I missing something here?

I also can't start the laptop with my external HD plugged in...

Thanks in advance

Does your 'lifebook' boot with UEFI?
How did you install Ubuntu, in EFI mode?
How did you create partitions for Ubuntu?

If you Windows is pre-installed in UEFI then you have to install Ubuntu in UEFI too.

Post the screenshot of your Windows Hard Disk partitions.

Sory for the late reply,
I did find that EFI is used on this laptop but it still would not allow me to install Ubuntu next to Win7..... So I kicked win7 off the system
Now it is working beautifully :p

Thanks,
Johan
