lost in downloading Request Tracker

Hello all,

I started trying to download Request Tracker yesteryda on ubuntu 12.04, and was using this (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP)guide as my help. i got lost right before the PHP process, and am getting the error message "Warning: Document Root[/home/user/public_html/] does not exist. Can someone please lend a helping hand? I am an intern, and fairly new to ubuntu. Thanks for looking.

yeah i just tried that, did the first step of installing apache, but it already had that, and when i tried to go to the website, the page loads with a "Not found" and "the request url/ was not found on this server"?
