Just wanted to mention:
Aftere years of Ubuntu, now installed Lu- and Xubuntu on two of my other computers....
I already liked Ubuntu and still do, but WOW, what a great progress was made on the two other members!

I had a bit of trouble with Lubuntu and to a lesser extent Xubuntu a couple of years ago. I've since used Xubuntu 12.10 extensively, and also recently upgraded to the 13.04 versions of both Ubuntu and Kubuntu.

You're right -- while I have my own preferences, they are stylistic rather than fundamental, and the three I have -- Xubuntu, Kubuntu, and Ubuntu itself, are all very nice distributions, and have grown over the years into producing a Linux system that is about as effortless and beautiful as a computer operating system can be.
