I'm going to install latest AMD GPU driver using xorg-edgers PPA. https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa

I read the warning : "Do not use this PPA with the precise X backport stacks

What exactly is "precise X backport stacks"? Is this option(in screenshot) the precise X backport stacks?

By the way screenshot I'm using is from Lucid, but I'm using 12.04 LTS.

no, its about the backport you can find when browsing with synaptic. So you can install the genuine kernel (and all the newer too) with the graphic driver from edgers ppa (except sometime the latest kernel and the latest driver cant work together due to ABI mismatch)
