So recently, my windows installation on my computer got corrupted somehow so I decided to do a full wipe and install Ubuntu. After having problems and errors appear with using the installer on a dvd a burned while attempting to create partitions, I went ahead and used parted magic also burned onto a dvd to completely fill the drive with zeros. After this, I went back to the Ubuntu installer and it installed fine. After the installer prompted me to restart my computer I did so, took out the disk and I thought i was done. After going back into the BIOS to change the boot priority back to the hard drive, I turned on the computer and it just sits here on the first screen after the emachines splash screen. All in all, I can't get my computer to boot into a clear install of Ubuntu. Thanks for your help in advance.

What you need is 'Boot-Repair (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Boot-Repair)' utility.
