I am trying to play a CD on my grandpa's laptop (ThinkPad T42 with lubuntu), but nothing happens when the drive is closed. Apparently,
* the LED goes on, and
* the disc is spinning
but there is no automatic pop-up, nothing in the /media folder or the /mnt folder, nothing listed on fdisk -l, I really don't know how I can see if the system is seeing anything. I tried dmesg, but no notable output came.
I am using Google Chrome's remote desktop connection so I have full access and screen sharing. And we tried putting the disc upside down and the right way up. :)
How would I find if anything is seen from the system?
