What kind of encryption will/does Ubuntu OS for smartphones & tablets have?

Apples iMessage is encrypted iPhone to iPhone.

www.silentcircle.com (http://www.silentcircle.com) is a new, completely encrypted service app for text, phone, email & video chat that is available on iPhone & android. Hopefully they pick up Ubuntu OS when it's fully available.

But it is an additional fee per year and they do not offer pay per month accounts yet.

But it would be nice if Ubuntu incorporates encryption technology from the get go.

So what's the scoop with encryption & the new mobile Ubuntu OS?

I guess to encrypt messages between devices you'd need a messaging client that is not sms based.
AFAIK canonical is not providing such a service. Only a regular SMS client.
Therefor, I do not think it will come with encrypted messaging out of the box.

Other services could of course provide such a thing.
