I am running 13.04 along side 12.04 and noticed that 13.04 boots and shuts down noticeably slower than the 12.04 version. Am I the only one experiencing this? Would like to hear experiences of others.

Thanks

When you say noticeably, what exactly does it mean in terms of time, i. e. do you have hard numbers from both systems? Do you have the same applications autostarted in both systems? Are the systems comparable, i. e. is the desktop environment the same?

@2F4U - No I do not have the numbers but will try to do that and post them - who knows, I might surprise myself! But 12.04 has quite a few processes autostarted and 13.04 has only the default apps autostarting - haven't got around to install the ones I am using on 12.04. Both versions running on the same desktop. As mentioned will provide more details soon. Thanks.

Just happen to see the disk transfer rates on the BIOS settings - the disk with 12.04 has a 3gbps (probably SATA II) transfer rate and the disk with 13.04 has 1.5gbps (SATA I) transfer rate - perhaps this explains the reason for slow performance of 13.04.
