I was wondering is there anyway of making my desktop to look like the Chrome OS desktop?

The closest environment to that is the Pantheon shell which is still in development. I did try it on 12.10 but not for regular use. Pantheon will be part of the Elementary Luna OS when released. http://elementaryos.org/journal/when-its-ready

XFCE and DockbarX I can't duplicate the menu but XFCE has transparency settings for window decoration and applications.
