I like my screen clean and uncluttered. I discovered how to autohide the launcher and I want the same functionality for the top bar. I understand there are very good reasons to make this static but not one of them is good enough for me.

I found the autohide top bar extension http://www.webupd8.org/2012/05/gnome-shell-autohide-top-bar-for-gnome.html, but it doesn't show up in the tweak tool.

Trying to fix that I googled along to https://extensions.gnome.org/ where I discovered that I don't have the latest version of gnome.

So I ran apt to install the gnome shell and discovered that I already have the latest version.

So now I'm confused.

I'm missing something, aren't I?

Help please. I need a Linux distro that I can set up like I like it.

Either Xubuntu or Lubuntu, you can still hide any or all panel(s) - top, bottom, or side(s).
