I think it's true. being a software engineer is one of the best jobs you can have nowadays in every possible aspect.

I can attest the course work is difficult and you always get out what you put in so yeah, definitely true.

Software Engineer has been a top tier and well paying job for years. Had a guy that worked for me while he was attending SF State and studying programming. Once he graduated (at the top of his class) he went to work for a software company that had only a few clients .. but those clients were MAJOR. (this was before satellite TV and the advent of cable saturation across the country.) The clients were ABC, CBS, NBC and The Atomic Energy Commission .. power plant division. He bought a 4 bedroom house in Pacific Palisades CA his first year of work and paid the place off in less than 5 years.
