View Full Version : [xubuntu] Replaced CD drive with DVD drive but PC won't boot from DVD.

My PC came with a CD-ROM drive (read only). I replaced the CD drive a DVD drive so that I can install latest versions of Ubuntu. But the PC won't boot from the new DVD drive. During installation a message appears on the screen that says "Booting from CD-ROM" but then the boot sequence stops. After about 30 seconds the PC boots Windows XP from the hard drive. So my question is, does the BIOS have to be updated whenever a CD drive is replaced with a DVD drive?

The PC is a Compac Evo d51c (pentium 4, 1GB ram).

thanks!
