How do I get desktop preview thumbnails / preview back?

I just dist-upgraded from xubuntu 12.10 to 13.04, how do I get desktop (not thunar) preview thumbnails / previews back?

Is it just for some file types, or all file types?
Do you have tumbler-plugins-extra installed?

Hmmm, Now I'm really confused....after a couple of reboots they started appearing all by themselves. I was talking about really basic previews, like jpg & pdf. All fixed now, even though I didn't change anything.
