No sound after upgrading from 12.10 to 13.04

Hello.
How do I set up my sound card to work again after upgrading from Ubuntu 12.10 to 13.04?
Before the upgrade I had no problems since 11.04.

I had the same problem. In my case the solution was to click on the sound icon at the top right and select 'sound settings'. It opened into the 'output' window. My system had two choices, 'digital output; and 'analogue output'. Analogue was hilited. I changed the selection to 'digital output' and my sound was back. IOW the wrong output was selected by default.

The problem with my computer was fixed also. I try a lot of Google answers but I don't know which one solved it :).
