Are cloud data at risk? Is Google unique in risk? Slate.com has an insightful article (http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/future_tense/2013/04/life_without_google_when_my_account_was_suspended_ i_felt_like_i_d_been_dumped.html).

Very interesting. Google once shut me out with a promise to give me a code if I'd call the number they gave. They'd been asking for a mobile number for quite awhile but I don't have one. Fortunately they allowed me to call with a land line, but it was kind of a wake up call. I'm gradually finding alternatives so I can rely on Googel less.

The lesson I remember after reading that article is 'don't put all your eggs in one basket'.

Too right! Keeping important data and files locally at least as backup is not being old-fashioned, it's common sense!
