conflict between windows 7 and linux???

Hi all

I have a desktop computer with intel 17 running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and am trying is install linux beside it. I am getting strang screen events and the update downloads keep freezing the computer.

Is there a compatability problem between windows & 64 Bit and linux 32bit systems.

The main reason i am looking at linux is that i am getting sick and tied of upgrades from microsoft causing problems and then their tech wanting to charge me $149.00 to fix them

aAny help would be very greatfull

It doesn't matter if you use 32 or 64 bit (UEFI systems require 64 bit to be used)
Except I'd say use 64 if your system is such
