Hi,

Since I got my new laptop, installing Ubuntu is not an easy thing for me. I used to boot from the CD and things are very simple.
I finaly got the usb flash drive to boot in UEFI boot mode, and been able to actually see something by specifying the correct resolution for the graphical installation. (nomodeset=1)
I have an i7 2.4 ghz, 8gb ram, 1TB, nVidia GT 750 *and* Intel HD 4000 (the two gpus switchable with Optimus technology).

The problem is, when I disable the nVidia gpu (nomodeset=1), I hear a constant sound coming out of the laptop. It is not de DVD. I currently use Win8 without any problems.

So what would it be? It seems to be caused by disabling the nVidia gpu. So should I just complete the installation, then install the correct drivers for the nVidia gpu, hoping that the annoying weird sound would stop?

Any idea anybody ?
