Hi,

I'm a newbie to Ubuntu and I want to connect to my MS-lync contacts. I found that pidgin can be used for this purpose. I've installed pidgin but I don't see office communicator in protocol list. Is there a plugin for this? Or Is it something to do with the installation?

The package pidgin-sipe provides Office Communicator support for Pidgin. It can be installed form the Software Center.

Installed pidgin + the sipe plugin, but I still do not see the office communicator protocol.

Restart Pidgin if you haven't done so already. Also, what version of Ubuntu are you running?

Sorry about that.

12.04 LTS
- Uninstalled Pidgin and reinstalled it from scratch + sipe plugin.

Now I have the office communicator protocol, but for some reason it does not accept my credentials. It will not log me in. I'll look into this a bit more.
