I have installed ubuntu onto the "C" SSD on my computer. I allocated 12 GB of memory to it. I have gotten an endless list of "failed to update - something" and "failed to idle channel - 1/2" or"PFIFO playlist update failed". I also got the error "GPU lockup", but only for the first error. The mouse moves, but with latency of about 5 minutes. I was wondering what I can do about it because I really want to try Linux for the first time. Thanks.

Does anyone know a solution?

More info, please. Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit desktop? Installed with Wubi or into its own partition? Tell us about the computer: CPU, memory, SSD size, video adapter? Did installation complete, or is that when the error messages appear?

I assume you meant you gave Ubuntu 12 GB of disk space, not memory.

64 bit ubuntu desktop. Installed with pen drive Linux onto a 4 GB USB stick. The installation completed. The errors appear after the stater screen when I try to install or try ubuntu. CPU is an intel i7-3700k running w/o overclock, the memory is 16 GB of DDR3 memory, the SSD is 128 GB, the video card is an Nvidia 580 with newest drivers.
