So from this news page...
http://www.stuff.co.nz/technology/digital-living/8522299/Microsoft-prompts-XP-users-to-upgrade

we see that adding the total users of named os' gives an unaccounted 1.8 % of o/s users using no named os....??
Think about it ......... Hint.. they are not using Kolibri...:)

TOP OPERATING SYSTEMS IN NEW ZEALAND, FEBRUARY 2013
Windows 7: 49.9%
Windows XP: 14.3%
MacOSX: 14.1%
Windows Vista: 7.6%
iOS: 7%
Windows 8: 4.3%
Linux: 1%
(Source: IDC)

so Win Me+ 95+98+98se have nearly twice the users than all Linux distros ??? Sad or what..!

Why is iOS listed as a separate OS and Droid is not? Besides, if you count devices like that, you run into one person having multiple machines (phone + laptop) and those would have different OS. How do you add that number?

I this those stats are BS.

Follow the money....IDC is owned by IDG a marketing group perhaps mostly interested in promoting ever newer services and reviews of ever newer Operating systems .

I can't wait to see all of these XP computers put on the curbside.

Unfortunately here they will not appear curbside...:-(
At best they may be donated to thrift stores and then due to privacy and health and safety issues (anything "electrical" must be inspected and certified b4 resale so it is easier and cheaper to dump them) they will be shunted off to third parties who pay $1.50 US per item then relist on local auction sites for $40-50 US.... Major Ripoff !!

Otherwise there is a yearly e-waste collection of donated items and they all go to 3rd world sweat shops for "recycling" = burnt to recover metals. :-(
