thanks. i make my own .debs too. can you help me in 2 little things.
1. when i compile regualr (without dpkg-buildpackage) everything compiles well but when i try to compile the .deb i get errors or gimp-python and have to disable it.

2. how do you make it thatyou don't have to remove libgimp2.0, gimp-data, and gimp.
