I normally am at least a little savvy, but failed hard...

Bought a Dell xps 8500 with win8. Learned about uefi and followed guides all the way through boot-repair... Never fully worked... Only worked each time right after boot-repair. Any restart and back to not working. Thankfully got back to windows enough to attempt system restore (running now as I prep for bed).

Why is this so hard and is there an easier solution coming so Ubuntu will be as easy to install as before?

FRUSTRATED UBUNTU FAN

It is not particularly easy with secure boot. Issue is not really UEFI.
Also then UltraBooks add many extra complications.

Now older, but same model:
Dell XPS 8500, desktop. Win 8 eventually worked (Ignore sidetrack to EasyBCD)
