View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu failes to install and freezes

I have a HP Pavilion G7 laptop with windows 8 installed. I wanted to dual boot with windows 8 and ubuntu, but I can't even get the operating system to install. I downloaded the 12.10 64 bit version. I burned it to a DVD and rebooted, pressed esc, f9 for boot options, then selected the DVD drive. The ubuntu loading bar will show and after a few seconds the bar stops moving and the cd stops spinning. Nothing responds until I hold the power button down and reboot. I also tried the 12.04 desktop version, but this time it was more of a command promt version. I wanted to choose the option to have both windows and ubuntu, but the option never showed so I stopped trying that one. I want the latest version of ubuntu, but everything I try keep failing. Any ideas on how to fix this?
