How to get a taskbar?

Please help me figure out how to get a taskbar on my new 12.10 install.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Unity Desktop, you can't make a traditonal taskbar, but you can substitute a window list indicator for a taskbar by using a PPA. Instructions here:

This indicator creates a drop-down list on the panel of all windows on all desktops.

Install one of the doc programs like Cario doc (thats what I am using with gnome-shell) it should function like a taskbar
