Where are they?

I guess I will add my rather normal looking desktop. I would love to find a nice Cyberpunk style one to replace it.

I just switched to Openbox, aiming for a minimalistic desktop. The panel auto-hides, an empty desktop for me means just a wallpaper, nothing else...

WM: openbox
Theme: Siva Flat Rounded Darkest (with some custom adaptations)
Icons: AwOken

Editor: scribes + gedit
Filemanager: pcmanfm
Dock/panel: tint2
Launcher: synapse
Terminal: guake + terminator
Shell: zsh
Cat: Sam ;)

Fullscreen versions: empty (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_0.png) | panel only (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_2.png) | some windows (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_1.png) | guake (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_4.png) | coding (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_6.png) | synapse (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_3.png) | terminator with ncmpcpp and more (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_5.png)

Refined my GNOME Shell, and I think it's as good as I want it now.

Also, Unity with the DkGreen GTK theme, Darkmint window theme, and Malys Uniblue icon theme.

TeamRocket1233c
April 2nd, 2013, 06:09 PM
Nope. Just fractals, various digital and traditional drawings, and various digital and traditional paintings that aren't related to Cyberpunk, although I guess my interface theme is kinda cyberpunky in a way, if you count basically black, green, and blue, like in the attachments I sent you, for example.

Hi. I got an idea of posting desktop's screenshots too see how did you customized your desktop. So basically the idea is to post your screenshot and what themes you use + icon themes. Ok so here is mine:

Icon theme: Azenis-green-icons

That's it :)

P.S. Sorry if this thread already exist's but I didn't find it.

I don't know :lolflag:
I run Linux and Windows as guests in VirtualBox and I often see 0% CPU usage if I'm not running anything other than the file manager or just have something open like VLC or a calculator or something in guests using a DE such as openbox or xfce or lxde etc.

p.s. with Firefox open I get 2%-4% usage.

My laptop idles at 0% and then bounces to 1% occasionally.

It's obviously not really 0% but a fraction, 0.4 etc so it displays it as 0%. I also think it's related to how powerful your CPU is, the same distro on a P4 will use a greater percentage of CPU power vs say an i7.

Hi

The icons used are Matrilineare customized to play nice with a dark panel. I basically replaced the existing Matrilineare status icons with Faenza-Dark status icons. If you want I can upload the modified set for you. You can grab the excellent Matrilineare icons from here: http://www.noobslab.com/2012/12/install-matrilineare-icons-in-ubuntu.html

Theme used is the default Ambience theme in 12.10.

I added the GNOME ppa to get Nautilus (and some other essential GNOME apps) to latest versions (it takes all of GNOME up to 3.6 for 12.10).

The gedit and terminal colour schemes are based on Solarized colour scheme by Ethan Schoonover, it is the most well thought out scheme available. You can grab the terminal colour scheme on github from here: https://github.com/sigurdga/gnome-terminal-colors-solarized/

The app running in the terminal is htop installed from the default repo.

I recently spent some blips of time on openSUSE and Fedora. Not to pull the carpet out from under other distros (ton of respect to other distros - they all do a solid job), but I just got sick of certain things not working when it came down to using an OS on a system where I just want to get things done. I fired up 13.04 on a blind test and was relieved to see that Unity is really progressing with nice touches. I think I might just park my car here and be done with it. :P

Basic for now. Tweaks to come later.

Okay, here's Ubuntu 13.04 in all its glory on my laptop :

Larger: http://www.pictureshack.us/view_26927_c1.jpg

This is a stock install with the new reversed Unity button, along with Ubuntu Edgy Eft default wallpaper (available in the repos) for a clean professional effect.

And a dirty version too :

I hear ya. It's almost like I go out searching through other distros to find one that is clearly better for my needs than Ubuntu, but each time I come back to Ubuntu for one simple reason. It's easy enough for grandma, and advanced enough for a core server. One size fits all. At least, in my opinion. :D

Are we talking hardware or software here? lol.
Heh! Software, e.g. OS...

The following list shows the major components planned for the Parallella computer:

Zynq-7010 Dual-core ARM A9 CPU
Epiphany Multicore Accelerator (16 or 64 cores)
1GB RAM
MicroSD Card
USB 2.0 (two)
Two general purpose expansion connectors
Ethernet 10/100/1000
HDMI connection
Ships with Ubuntu OS
Ships with free open source Epiphany development tools that include C compiler, multicore debugger, Eclipse IDE, OpenCL SDK/compiler, and run time libraries.
Dimensions are 3.4'' x 2.1''

Parallella Computer Development Work:

All major IC components have already been selected for the Parallella board, but cost minimization will continue.
We will be engaging with an experienced external board product design team to complete the design and layout of the Parallella boards.
We will work with internal and external resources to seamlessly integrate the Epiphany coprocessor drivers and development tools with the Ubuntu distribution currently running on the reference platform.

Why not? I can't see why you can't install other distros with ARM support on it. I'm sure if there's specific software involved it will be ported and if it's debian I doubt much would have to be done.

Theme: Siva Flat Rounded Darkest (with some custom adaptations)
Icons: AwOken

Editor: scribes + gedit
Filemanager: pcmanfm
Dock/panel: tint2
Launcher: synapse
Terminal: guake + terminator
Shell: zsh
Cat: Sam ;)

Fullscreen versions: empty (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_0.png) | panel only (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_2.png) | some windows (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_1.png) | guake (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_4.png) | coding (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_6.png) | synapse (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_3.png) | terminator with ncmpcpp and more (http://download.anaproy.nl/ss201304_5.png)

Switched from MATE to Xfce in prep for the upgrade to 13.04, and I may stick to it post-upgrade, what I did is I installed just straight Xfce4, tweaked it to resemble GNOME 2 (although the top panel still needs a little more work), and I'm basically using Mediterranean Darkest with Malys Uniblue icons as the theme, in addition to adding a weather applet, and moving the Trash to the bottom panel.

Acer Aspire Revo 3600 is not perfect computer to Chromium Os, I got sound in windowed but not when I login Chromium Os.
I installed it on Znote laptop and everything works
I hope it will be fixed soon:
https://github.com/dz0ny/lightdm-login-chromeos

The plan is to port most functionality from ChromeOS (picture import, volume control etc.) BUt in order to do this, someone needs to write d-bus services(this is how chromeos ui communicates with system). Currently I'am writing services for sound(pulseaudio) and networking(networkmanager mashup).

Gorgeous, thank you for the post. I recently have been wanting to switch to openbox as well.
Did you run into any issues? I notice you're on xubuntu 12.10, that's exactly the switch I wish to do on my laptop.

Depends on what you consider 'issues'. Openbox is quite bare (I always thought too bare but I now like it!) so it does all require some manual configuration to get it precisely the way you want it, mostly editing openbox's rc.xml, an autostart script that starts tint2 or whatever dock you prefer (if any), sets a background (feh), and other stuff you might like. You may also need to add menu entries or key bindings for suspend/hibernate/screensavers etc. One special tweak I'm using is http://openbox.org/dist/tools/setlayout.c , it configures your workspace layout to be 2D (3x3) instead of 1D. Allows for easy navigation using super+arrows. I also configured keybindings that allow windows to be quickly 'tiled'. And I really like synapse, it doesn't get in the way and is a great tool for launching apps and all kinds of recently used files. Another thing that doesn't get in the way and which I use heavily is guake, the drop-down terminal. As login manager, I use slim instead of lightdm.

The only thing I still really miss is a fancy zoom function (I used to be on compiz, without unity, and I loved the zoom function)...

I'm using the xubuntu branding currently.. but without XFCE it isn't much xubuntu of course. It doesn't really matter what ubuntu variant you're using, just take the configuring into your own hands.

Since this is a screenshot thread, a minor tweak from my last post, besides having upgraded to 13.04 today: I moved the tint2 panel to the top :) All the rest still looks the same as in my previous post (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2131337&p=12584025#post12584025).

sounds fine to me. I think e17 looks nice but it is kind of a pain to work with in my opinion. plus they keep changing it to the point themes and modules fail. but, it does look nice :)

Raring Ringtail - Unity and GNOME Fallback, also, my VLC EQ settings. If you notice the Launcher isn't showing in the Unity screenshots, that's 'cause I have Autohide turned on. In addition, if the themes in Unity and GNOME seem identical, that's 'cause themes are carried over from DE to DE in the GNOME 3 family, whatever you set Unity, for example, to look like, will also apply to GNOME Shell, GNOME Fallback, Cinnamon, whatever.

Also, as far as GNOME 3.6 goes, although GNOME Shell is nice, I just prefer Fallback, in addition, trying to put as little PPAs as possible on my machine, so there's a pretty high likelihood I might just stick with GNOME 3.6 Fallback as far as GNOME goes, in addition, since Unity's actually really nice in 13.04, IMO, GNOME Shell isn't even really needed.
