This video I made demonstrates the problem.

Sometimes only one of them is blinking as in the video, sometimes they are all blinking, sometimes they're higher on the screen. 50% of the time after a reboot they're not there.

When they are present, I'm unable to access virtual terminals. Pressing Ctrl-Alt-F* causes a very brief flash of the screen and leaves me on the desktop.

This problem is present on fglrx from the repos or when installed from AMD's website.

I have two AMD 6950's installed, the problem persists whether I have the cards connected for Crossfire or not.

This problem is kind of hard to Google for...

What's going on here and how do I fix it?

A little bump with a little more info. Every once in awhile, my screen will flash black from those blinking cursors and then they disappear and everything is find and dandy until some point in the future where they come back...

I get this too ocassionally when i boot up - i am also using 6950 cards. Its on the login screen - some stipey spotty things. to fix it i login - logout - login - and its fine. It looks like a silly QA thing they missed. Once i am cleanly logged in i have no more problems - so i make sure i login cleanly.
