If I have Ubuntu installed, is there a way to know which version of a system will be installed if I do it by, i.e. sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop? Will it install the latest LTS version? The latest version regardless of if it is LTS?
Thanks in advance! :)

You will get the Xubuntu desktop corresponding to the Ubuntu you were already running. If you are on Ubuntu 12.04 you will get Xubuntu 12.04 in parallel so both are available when booting.
Remember that the long time support is different for Ubuntu and Xubuntu.

And you can check which version of XFCE is in the repositories for each Ubuntu release by searching the UBuntu package database...
