View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installation in a Dell Inspiron 15R

Hi All.

Few months ago I bought a Dell Inspiron 15R (i7 3th gen, 8GB Ram, 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD). No matter what I try, there's no way to install Ubuntu (or even openSuse) in that laptop.
It has the Win8 and new EFI boot. The secure boot is disabled. That option "QuickBoot" - I don't recall.. but regarding the "Intel Smart Reponse" - the system warned me that the current install may be compromised if I turned that off.

When I click on "Install Ubuntu Now" or even start the install on the main menu of the LiveCD (USB in my case) the results are the same:
It requests to select the Language (PT-BR in that case, but in English didn't change anything), the 2nd screen is that classic "Install updates during the install" and blablabla. The next one SHOULD be the one where we could select the type of the installation and where the system would be installed. However, it shows an empty list. No other option.

Did anyone get this kind of problem? Any idea how to solve it? I really want to have Ubuntu on my machine again (but don't to lost the Win8 current installed).

Thanks for any help.
