View Full Version : [ubuntu] New to Linux, broke my windows

I'm new to linux, I just installed Ubuntu on my laptop. It works, but now I don't see an option to boot into my windows 7 partition.
While I was installing Ubuntu I removed a tiny partition. It was like 1gb or something with only 35 mb used, I think the Ubunto installer said it was labeled "Windows (Loader)".
I'm pretty sure my actual C: drive partition for windows is still there, can someone tell me if/how I can go about getting windows to boot again?

You removed the partition that contained the Windows boot loader. You should have asked BEFORE you removed that partition -- we could have told you how to prevent the boot problem you're having. You will need to restore the Windows boot loader. If you have a Windows installation DVD, you can do this easily.

IF you don't, then you need to be prepared to spend some money to PURCHASE a repair disk image, go to the link below, download the ISO file to a working PC, burn that to CD, boot from that, and run Startup Repair three times:
