Hi,

Can I customise the launcher to have two column or rows, instead of 1 as it is right now? The number of application I'm using at one time is quite numerous and would like to see all of them in the launcher, preferably in 2 columns, and static, instead of scrolling around on the launcher searching for one application.

As far as I know, no, the Unity launcher design in pretty rigid; I would've found the Unity launcher much more useful if you could do as you suggest above, instead I install and use AWN dock on most of my Unity installs, autohide the launcher and deactivate the "show launcher" edge.

No, you can only have one launcher.

But, you can add a dock, if you'd like.

Docky works. Or cairo-dock.

Plus you can customize the launcher so the top applications that you use are all together.

Just right click on the launcher you want to use and make sure it's set as locked to launcher.
Then simply pull it out of the launcher and move it to where you want it set.
