A few weeks ago I ran the windows install so that I could run ubuntu alongside my existing windows os on my laptop. I now have purchased a 2.5 inch drive and a USB caddy onto which I would like to transfer my ubuntu partition and swap it into my laptop so that I have a system which just boots into Ubuntu and contains no windows partition. I do not want to lose any of my data or have to reconfigure ubuntu again with Lamp and all the other tools I installed.

I tried using gpart to copy and paste the partition to the new drive but when I fitted the drive it was not recognised as bootable.

Any help would be appreciated
