So, I like what I see with Ubuntu 12.10 but I don't really want to try to install onto my ASUS yet. I haven't set up a computer to dual boot before and want to familiarize myself with the system before I make that kind of installation.

I have an old Toshiba Tecra M5 with a newly installed copy of Xubuntu 12.10 and it works flawlessly based off the time I have spent messing around with it. However I like Ubuntu 12.10 a bit more, easier on the eyes and more user friendly aside from the being more of a resource hog compared to Xubuntu.

My question is, will my Tecra hold up to the test of Ubuntu? Or can I expect the computer to be slow and laggy? I don't plan on doing anything extreme on this old laptop, mostly spend time learning the ins and outs of this OS.
