I see that Lucid is nearing end of life. The schedule says desktop will stop receiving updates and security support in April 2013. And server will end April 2015.

So when exactly is that? April 1st? April 30th?

Yes, I am clinging to 10.04 desktop.

It would be sweet if desktop would be continued with a userspace refresh (browsers, office suites, etc.)

-----

I tried to move to 12.04. Took a long time to find and remove all of the bloat. Biggest problem is that X locks up regularly and
I am forced to restart.

Ubuntu 10.04 Desktop Edition ends support on April 24th with the release of Ubuntu 13.04 Desktop Edition.

Also, if you want a traditional Gnome Desktop. Install the Ubuntu Gnome Remix. It's a spanking new Ubuntu respin added to the Ubuntu Family and is backed by Canonical!

When installed, in the Details section of System Settings, throw the "Force Fallback" Switch, logout and log back in to get Gnome Fallback. alt+right click lets you edit the panels. install compiz to get effects and load it on login with "compiz --replace"
