Hi,

I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 or .04 on an HP probook 4545s (UEFI) with disk or flash.

But loading kicks in, and I get the black screen. The installation freezes there and does not proceed.

"Security boot" off.
How can I resolve this? Any help gratefully received.
Many thanks.
Windows 8 installed without problems.

Do you get a purple screen at the very start of the live session loading? If so follow these instructions

1) at the first purple screen press Enter
2) at the next screen press Enter to select English as the default language or select another language
3) at the Try Ubuntu - Install Ubuntu screen press F6
4) scroll down the menu that appears and select nomodeset and press Enter
5) press Esc to get back to the Try - Install screen and make your select and press Enter

See, what happens. You may need to try some of the other F6 options. Perhaps even a combination of the options.

Regards.
