When I boot ubuntu it immediately takes me to text login screen. The only way to fix this is to use sudo service lightdm restart. Having to login by text and enter this command is getting annoying quick, is there a way to make my computer simply boot the GUI on startup? I'm using lubuntu precise BTW.

Did you install 12.04 or update to it? Tell us about your computer: CPU, RAM, video adapter, hard drive setup.

The easy solution might be to backup all your data, twice(!!!) then reinstall.
