Issues trying to install 12.04 lts/ 12.10 on a Laptop

I've been trying to get ubuntu 12.04lts and or 12.10 on my girlfriends Laptop (HP G6 AMD A6, 4 gigs of ram, 320GB HDD, Win7) to no avail. I've tried booting from flashdrive (hung unresponsive) and from disk. I've attached an image of the error I keep getting. I've google searched this issue inserting multiple individual lines of this error and have gotten no results. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Have you used all 4 primary partitions?

Have you shrunk Windows using Windows Disk tools and rebooted several times so Windows can update itself with its new size.

Be sure to create recovery DVD(s) first. And a Windows repair CD.

Shrinking a Windows 7 partition is best done in Windows. But do not create new partitions with Windows.

Have you backed up Windows and made a Windows repairCD?

The vendor recovery DVDs are just an image of your drive as purchased. If you have housecleaned a lot of cruft normally included, run many updates with many reboots, and added software you may want a full back up.
