Hi!

I am waiting for the Ubuntu Phone to come available but I need a solution also right now. Does anybody know about (android) phones that are supporting the Ubuntu desktop? How does this work?

Thanks.

There are devs on XDA porting to some devices, check here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2098), though it's a bit stop-start and the progress is limited, while most people are clamouring for ubuntu touch on their device they are also apprehensive about flashing a non-working test rom.

to the OP; from my haphazard research, it seems like it's possible to install Ubuntu on various Android devices (e.g. Nexus 10, GSM Galaxy Nexus, etc.) that are rooted via a ROM flash; however, this only installs a developer preview version (imagine installing a demo of an operating system or firmware, like they have at a retail store when you try out a product). so it CAN be installed but it's not ready for actual use, at all.
