Im new to unity, and are soon forced to use it.

I wonder If it is possible to open a folder/hdd without it's take the hole screen?

If you don't have a very little screen, it stupid to open a folder in full screen and it a bit of work to first 'not full screen' and then resize it to a quarter of the screen or something...

Is there any setting that tells new open folders to not bee in fullscreen?

/Cheers

If a utility like the File Manager is in full screen mode when it is closed, then it will open in full screen mode when it is next opened. It remembers that last state it was in. So, you need to reduce the utility from full screen mode. Move the mouse the the top right of the screen and then Close, Minimize and Maximize buttons will appear. Click on the right hand button (with the square printed on it) and that will un-maximise the window application. Now close the application.

Oh, by the way, did you know that if you hold down the super key (Windows key) you get an overlay showing you keyboard short cuts. Some of these have been changed since 12.04 came out. I am on 13.04 and Ctrl+Super+Down arrow = Restore or minimize window.

Regards.

Thanx http://ubuntuforums.org/customavatars/avatar1087323_2.gif (http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=1087323) grahammechanical

(http://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=1087323)It seems to work that way :) Strange cos I think I often have to change it, but now it be the smaler size even after a reboot. It would have been that I compiled a 'thing' i nautilus to get the navigation arrows to be on the left side, instead of the right side, but that have disappeared now after some upgrades (In the description to compile, the warned that the change could disappear after updates) . Have to exercise my mouse-pointer to also go to the right of the screen ;)

Thanx again :)
