View Full Version : Installing Ubuntu into rooted HTC?

hello,

Im looking into installing Ubuntu into my andriod device a HTC Desire HD but heres where im a little scared because my phone has been rooted and has a costom rom in it so my question is will me instaling Ubuntu will it affect it in any way like unroot it or something like that. Thank you very much

I don't think that it is available to the general public yet.

Go and visit this post at XDA Developers - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2171786. Even though it has been discontinued, it gives the goods and instruction to backup your current rom and install UTO. It's only the Alpha 1 release, so nothing works. It's just cool to have a bit of a look around. I personally can't wait until the Beta Dailies start. So, hopefully

Also, go and have a look at http://www.onexroot.com. There they have all the know how of what you seek inregards to HTC, presuming you have a One X or variant of. Personally I've found my HTC One X absolutely fantastic, and one of the easiest phone to work with. Though its only down fall is it's compatability with linux. But a quick search through XDA Forums and it was fixed.

All of that information is for the HTC One, not the HTC Desire HD which is the phone the OP has.

Ubuntu Touch isn't available for the HTC Desire HD. You can see a list of currently supported devices here...
