Urgent help needed plz

hey..
i had installed ubuntu 12.10 on external harddisk. when i boot it on my windows 7 desktop it is working properly but when i boot it with my hp ultrabook it's giving beep at loading of ubuntu screen and giving a black screen.
can anyone help me out of this. Thanks.

When does it beep? Do you get anything on your screen at all? Could be a different video driver needed for the ultrabook vs. the desktop.
